Practice in Action

One of the working definitions of yoga utilized today is “Skill in Action”

The cultivation of any skill comes through Practice. As we practice yoga, we learn, clarify, and refine more about our self and our relationship to the world and time in which we live. This transformational practice brings meaning into our life while providing tools for authentically connecting to our surrounding environment.

Yoga is also defined as Unity. As our life is transformed through meaningful practice, naturally we begin to recognize our health and well-being as connected to the well-being of the whole. When we see a need in the world, we are moved to take action. This becomes a practice of service, of transforming the world around us through our offering, our efforts, our love.

Seva is the spiritual principle of selfless service where our actions are offered for the benefit of others with no attachment to the outcome. Though honestly, in many acts of service, I receive so much in return. The experiences offered though Practice in Action aim to bridge the pursuit of self-awareness, vitality, and well-being to the changing needs of fellow humans and the planet.

My passion, education, and experience in non-profit management, coalesce in my dearest endeavor :  projects linking respect for our internal and external natural resources with the powerful support of unified practitioners.

Practice in Action generates a ripple of loving service, one exhale at a time.

February 17-22 Explore the shores, villages, and waters of Lake Atitlan. Described as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lago de Atitlán is surrounded by iconic volcanoes, natural beauty, and vibrant Mayan villages. Our time will include three days of cultural immersion and volunteerism work with our local partners Rising Minds, daily meditation and yoga practices, options for hiking, adventure and peaceful relaxation. Our hosts at Mayachik Eco Hotel are not only an eco-friendly community aimed at self-sustainability, they also provide community support for education and access to clean water to Atitlan’s remote villages.

February 23 We gather our memories, our insights, and our new perspectives and begin our travels back toward home, one exhale at a time.

My sweet friend Emily Warr, co-founder of The Rustic House, also shares a love for practice, service, and the community of Lake Atitlan. Her connection to Rising Minds sparked this trip and This Little Light branch of her candle business from which a portion of each Agave + Lime candle sold will directly fund our community project in February. Emily is returning for her second trip to volunteer and bringing us all along with her. Together, we are co-creating with our local partners a week of experiential education of the mind, body and spirit. In this ever-changing climate of cultural and social evolution, let’s cultivate a living practice of exploration, connection, and appreciation.

There will be limited space for this unique Immersion. Price of Immersion includes transportation to all locations within Guatemala, accommodations, daily meals & practices. Airfare not included. Travel insurance is required.
